The
President of the French Riviera, Inc., is George Arnold. Born in Philadelphia
and attended La Sorbonne, Paris, he entered the securities business in 1954
and eventually concentrated in foreign currency brokerage. In 1990 his focus
increasingly turned towards management and growth of the French Riviera, Inc.
Mr. Arnold's securities career began in 1954 joining Bache and Company as a Registered Representative. Three years later he accepted an offer by Montgomery, Scott & Company in a like capacity then subsequently associated with Gerstley Sunstein & Company. Shortly thereafter he was elevated to partnership prior to the sale of the company to Burnham & Company.
He then became the President of the broker-dealer division of American Guardian Life Insurance Company, (AGL) to facilitate the management of several hundred trust accounts. After divesting his holdings in that company, he established his own broker-dealership (GAI) principally as an equity specialist at The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Inc., (The PHLX.) In 1980 he expanded the operation to include equity option market-making and floor brokerage execution.
In September 1982, just before the commencement by the PHLX to trade Foreign Currency Options (FCO's), he formed International Options Inc., (IOI) a broker-dealership that executed orders for 18 major banks and leading investment banking firms. IOI has the distinction of executing the first foreign currency option ever effected on any national exchange and consistently ranked as number one in terms of the number of FCO contracts traded annually. He was the first Chairman of The Foreign Currency Option Committee and served in that capacity for two consecutive terms. The business was acquired by Bloom Staloff & Co. in 1992.
While at the PHLX, served as member of:
* Business Conduct Committee
* Allocation Committee
* Equity Option Committee
* Membership Committee
Mr. Arnold is a recipient of both the 1995 Citizen's Diplomacy award presented by the City of Philadelphia and also honored by the United States Information Agency. Mr. Arnold is a member of The Philadelphia Board of Trade.
